About the club
We are a friendly gig rowing club based in a beautiful boathouse near Kiln Quay, Flushing.
We row in 6 Cornish Pilot gigs four of which are a traditional wooden construction (see Gig Fleet). We run rowing sessions both during the week and at weekends and consist of a mixture of recreational and race-orientated crews of various levels. Bookings are managed using our booking system which enables members to plan their rows in advance and have full visibility of what sessions are on offer. We also offer members the usage of 2 Concept2 RowErg machines situated at the Gig Shed that can also be booked for off-water training and general fitness.
Gigs are launched from Flushing Beach after a short trolley ride from the boathouse down to the beach. Due to our location, we are lucky to have multiple options; such as the sheltered waters of the inner harbour up to Penryn, the main harbour, as well as Falmouth Bay, Carrick Roads and beyond depending on the weather conditions. Providing some outstanding opportunities to row our boats and enjoy the amazing surroundings - the location is simply second to none!
We are a member of the Cornish Pilot Gig Association (CPGA) which governs the sport and provides standards, rules and policies for clubs. We adhere to the CPGA Code of Conduct. CPGA membership enables us to take part in racing events throughout the year. We’re also affiliated with the Cornwall Rowing Association (CRA).
Additionally, our status as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) means we’re tasked with promoting and encouraging the sport to all sections of the community and keeping subscriptions at levels that will not pose a significant obstacle to participating.
